The Dinky Di Story begins in 1977 in Normandy, France where Francois Cointrel learned the art of pastry making from his grandfather at the age of 10 in the family bakery. From his apprenticeship at Pont Audemer, he moved to Honfleur, a little port renowned for calvados, cider and apple tarts, where his skills were honed with 2am starts and 7 day weeks.
After he returned from military duty in Tahiti, he landed in Megeve, producing a wide array of hand-made delicacies. It is here where Francois acquired his passion for the ‘petit four’. With an urge to see the World, Francois landed in Sydney in 1992 and fell in love with a little bakery in Rose Bay, which he purchased from another Frenchman named Xavier.
In 2007, Francois decided to bring Dinky Di to the rest of Sydney and eventually the rest of the country and the world, and now Francois is bringing his unique product to you online.
